Explored: Vancouver Skyline

Posted on 12th April 2013 in explored

When I was traveling through Europe I was working on a lot of sketches, mostly due to the fact that carrying three small sketch books was a lot easier than buying/selling canvases at every destination I went to. I also sketch a lot.

I was feeling/still am feeling they’re very architecturally aligned, so I’ve been working on a way to unite these sketches with a painting. After posting Hunter’s Game, I had an inquiry from an acquaintance about possibly doing a commission piece of the Vancouver skyline, and this instantly sparked many creative juices and connected the two dots I’ve been trying to find a way to connect for a while.

Vancouver Skyline is a triptych, a three-piece meant to be displayed together, traditionally found in altar pieces with hinges and the lot. These don’t have hinges, and no religious significance, but here they are none-the-less.

Each canvas is 122 x 91.5 cm ( 4 x 3 ft).

Paris, France

In Paris I did a stupid thing and hurt my heel. Wine, influenced me… I was in crutches from the 1st night there, until about 3 weeks after that. Not ideal for a journeyer, but as any journeyer knows, we must always adapt to new situations and make due with what we have at our disposal.

So, between hobbling around on crutches and falling in love with buildings that were around long before Napoleon ruled his kingdom, I managed to capture a few photographs of Paris.

Heffley Creek, BC, Canada

Posted on 3rd April 2013 in adventure, nature

I have spent a lot of my lifetime in and around Heffley Creek, BC, Canada. My mother grew up there, and I’ve many cousins, aunties, uncles, and a grandmother there. It’s one of those places that is easy to drive through and not pay any attention to since I’ve been through there so many times. It’s also one of those places that has changed so much since I was young.

In the middle of the winter of 2012, in December, I drove through there on my way North, and found myself upon a day of such bright blue and fresh snow that I had to photograph it extensively. No, I never got stuck once.

Looking at the photos, I realize that only the first image is on the edge of Heffley Creek, the rest are on the road up to Sun Peaks, and then the Knouff Lake Rd and Vinsulla Knouff Lake Rd, if that means anything to you…

‘Lina Likes Her White

Posted on 3rd April 2013 in fashion, risque

I’ve taken Ajlina’s photograph before, which if you’re a regular on this fotoblog, you’ve seen ‘Lina is a Punk Rocker.

‘Lina’s a professional. She knows what she’s doing, she was comfortable, she was fun, and she was full of ideas. The amount of clothes we had to go through of hers blew my mind. She’d just pull out things she hadn’t ever even worn before.. Oh, and you can also meet her cute little dog. I’m pretty sure the dog tried to hump my leg a few times..

We did this shoot in London, indoors, on one of my last nights in Europe in 2012. It was all shot with a 50mm f1.8 and my trusty Canon T1i. We also drank a few bottles of wine and devoured a pizza with her roomate.
