Magic Nymph, Golden Lake | Lola Frost

Posted on 25th October 2014 in fashion, risque

Lola Frost’s (fb, twitter, tumblr, instagram) and mine’s relationship is one of artist and muse, of collaborator and inspiration. We have pushed each other numerous times before, and I can only hope it will continue.

I’ve had the idea to tie branches into the hair of a magical nymph for a while, and finally when Lola and I drove up the Sunshine Coast of BC we found the perfect spot to dig into this.

With the summer’s end fast approaching, it felt like everything was the warm color of gold.

Oh, and did I mention she had long ass braids? Those were done by by Kristi Johanson of East Vanity Parlour (fb)!

Drag my Heart | Ann Narky

Posted on 17th July 2014 in fashion, portraits & headshots, risque

Ann Narky is a very foxy lady with a go big or go home attitude. When I pulled up to location she was standing outside her car fully done up and ready to rock and roll as homeless bottle collectors pushed their fully loaded shopping carts on by. She had the props, the outfits, refreshments, the hair, and the attitude ready. A dream to work with.

We did the shoot down in the warehouse district of East Van, just south of Terminal and east of Main.

As usual, my trusty Canon T1i and 50mm 1.8 was used.

I Walk the Line | Abby Normal

Posted on 26th May 2014 in fashion

Abby Normal (Tumblr, fb) is an interesting bird. She’s a no holds barred bubblegum-zebra stomping her way into a new sphere of expression, unabashedly. An admirable character trait, to say the least, and she’s a babe. She is also the brainchild of Rent Cheque.

Yes, she is usually NSFW.

So I sent out a message to my circles that listen that I was going to be in Vancouver and Abby sent me a casual message about being a model, if I needed somebody.. “Of course!” I said.

She proposed the train yards, and that’s how it started. As we shot I actually felt like I was – with Abby’s guidance – uncovered a whole new love affair with Vancouver, a side that that can only be found walking the out of way places.

Chevron | Lola Frost

Posted on 5th May 2014 in fashion, risque

Hands down, Lola Frost (fb, twitter, tumblr, instagram) has been the biggest nurturer of my growth both as a human and an artist. Helping me dig into my own skin to be more comfortable and brave with my expression. [see most of our work together here]

Nudity is a big part of this, being such a controversial topic. It’s hard to believe that 60 years ago there were patrol officers at the beach making sure women didn’t have too much upper thigh showing. Today, everywhere we look there is sex selling something. And if it’s not selling something, it’s being flaunted by brave vixens and hermanos pushing the boundaries. I think for most of us, we’re trying to understand what the difference between sexuality, expression, intimacy, and allure is. As we become accustomed to seeing nudity, we start to wonder what excites us; we begin to explore our own definitions.

To steal the time tested axiom: it’s not quantity, it’s quality.

This shoot was built around the chevron tights, and beautiful Vancouver alley ways. Jewelery used in the shoot is from Miriam of Piyan Designs.

Leiah Luz’s Ghetto Blaster

Posted on 24th April 2014 in fashion

While planning the shoot, Leiah Luz sent me some images of inspiration to model the shoot after. I couldn’t help but notice the consistency of a ghetto blaster in all the images, a heavy 90s NYC rap scene vibe. So, when I was killing time in a Value VillagĂ© and stumbled upon this ghetto blaster – shoot already set and penciled in the calendar at this point – it is needless to say how excited the both of us were finding the necessary prop for the shoot.

Leiah is a hip hop dancer and booty shaking afficiando, and a well traveled one at that. She recently returned from a journey to LA to mess with some of the best in the business. I know from my own experiences on journeys – and talking to her – that you return a changed person. Motivation. You may remember her from the last shoot we did together in a graveyard, Apparitions and Ghosts.

We did this shoot in an East Van alley just off Hastings street. You know a person is packin’ some cojones when they hardly break a pose when a alley wanderer wanders by with nothing but up and down eyes.

We were parked in the lot of a community center, and as we were finishing up the shoot kids were filing into the community center which had an after school care program. So all the young boys in there were trying to get a view of her out the windows – shown at the top of the first image below. I heard one of them yell, “you’re heavenly.”

I couldn’t agree more.
