Light Angels | Leiah Luz

Posted on 30th June 2015 in After Dark, art

When accidents happen, it’s not wise to lament their existence, but rather celebrate in their exposure and revel in the situation you have in front of you to now work with. Particularly in art, for this is the journey.

Leiah Luz (see our previous shoots) and I did a shoot at the Vancouver Burlesque Center in the midst of darkness. Experimenting with lighting is something I don’t get a chance to do much, or really have that much drive to explore. But when it comes, it’s fun to see what magic can be made. After all, photography is all playing with light.

Ask My Boyfriend | Georsha Gal

Posted on 5th October 2014 in fashion, risque

Georsha (fb, instagram, tumblr) is on it. When I showed up she had coffee and cookies for me. Take notes kids, that’s how you do it.

She’s been so kind and patient with these images. I’ve been on the move and migrating myself and all things I come with so there’s been a bit of a bottleneck of productions.

Georsha came to Vancouver from Argentina where she was producing all kinds of events for the arts, from comedies to stripteases. Coming to a new city and trying to establish yourself once again is no doubt a frustrating endeavor, but I can guarantee that this woman will not stop.

Perhaps you’ve already seen her on a stage near you?!

It’s always a challenge for me to work inside a house with my 50mm. As you can imagine, such a lens requires me to stand back from the object quite a ways. I always find myself straddling tables or plastering myself up against a wall! Or… shooting from the balcony to the bedroom window. I like it.

Vancouver’s Celebration of Lights – Spain Edition 2011

Posted on 4th August 2011 in events

Every year in Vancouver we host the Celebration of Lights, a celebration piqued with fireworks: Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday it seems every time.

For the first Wednesday show this year, I headed down to Kits beach where I caught some nice shots, and took a few of the lit Vancouver cityscape afterwards.

The key? tripod and wireless trigger.
