Magic Nymph, Golden Lake | Lola Frost

Posted on 25th October 2014 in fashion, risque

Lola Frost’s (fb, twitter, tumblr, instagram) and mine’s relationship is one of artist and muse, of collaborator and inspiration. We have pushed each other numerous times before, and I can only hope it will continue.

I’ve had the idea to tie branches into the hair of a magical nymph for a while, and finally when Lola and I drove up the Sunshine Coast of BC we found the perfect spot to dig into this.

With the summer’s end fast approaching, it felt like everything was the warm color of gold.

Oh, and did I mention she had long ass braids? Those were done by by Kristi Johanson of East Vanity Parlour (fb)!

The Great Divide with Sufey

Posted on 17th October 2013 in foto story, nature

Sufey (fb, twitter, instagram) is an extraordinary woman; smart, beautiful, driven, and a yogini. She’s been heavily involved in the Prince George yoga scene for the past year since she acquired her yoga instructor certification, and has begun to warm the cold north one smile at a time.

We’ve been working on concepts for a shoot for a while, trying to find something that aligned with her vision and direction as well as my aesthetic. We came up with the idea to compare her in various yoga positions with mother nature; an exposé showcasing how mother nature shows us and teaches us.

I had a location picked out to do the shoot, but when the time to do the shoot came I realized I had made a grave error in that the shade of the mountain was now where I wanted to shoot! This is obviously no good, the light was amazing… So, we headed to go to another location of Sufey’s suggestion. To get there, we had to drive by the PGX grounds. These grounds I walk regularly and have envisioned many shoots there in doing so… needless to say we stopped. It’s kind of funny how things like that just sort themselves out.

I shot the whole thing with natural light, my trusty 50 mm 1.8f, and my Canon T1i.

Beginning of Autumn in Prince George, BC, Canada

Posted on 22nd September 2013 in nature, wandering

There is something about Autumn that holds me tight [and the word autumn rather than fall]. Perhaps it’s the thought of losing all that has pleased me so throughout the summer. Perhaps it’s the delicate state of decay that captures [part] of the world. Perhaps it’s the colours, animating everything into a spectrum, not just greens.

Most likely it’s a combination.

I took my camera with me on my daily morning walk, and I found what I’d hoped to find.

The last flower is one of the remaining ones from my mothers garden.

An Early Fall Wandering

Posted on 10th October 2011 in nature, wandering

So, it’s early fall here in Vancouver, which means things are just starting to turn, but not much yet. Flowers are dying because it’s getting colder, and blue skies are becoming rare-er. So, Yesterday was a blue sky day, so I went a wandering:
