Ask My Boyfriend | Georsha Gal

Posted on 5th October 2014 in fashion, risque

Georsha (fb, instagram, tumblr) is on it. When I showed up she had coffee and cookies for me. Take notes kids, that’s how you do it.

She’s been so kind and patient with these images. I’ve been on the move and migrating myself and all things I come with so there’s been a bit of a bottleneck of productions.

Georsha came to Vancouver from Argentina where she was producing all kinds of events for the arts, from comedies to stripteases. Coming to a new city and trying to establish yourself once again is no doubt a frustrating endeavor, but I can guarantee that this woman will not stop.

Perhaps you’ve already seen her on a stage near you?!

It’s always a challenge for me to work inside a house with my 50mm. As you can imagine, such a lens requires me to stand back from the object quite a ways. I always find myself straddling tables or plastering myself up against a wall! Or… shooting from the balcony to the bedroom window. I like it.

Green Lake, British Columbia, Canada

Posted on 3rd November 2013 in adventure, nature

I have been driving by Green Lake my entire life on the beautiful Highway 97. I have camped at the Lake many times, and seen it in every season and weather imaginable. However, in recent years it’s just the middle of a long road for me from/to the north/south. I rarely stop there anymore to explore.

I did a shoot with Jilleena recently, and remembered how beautiful that area truly is, so the last time I was by I decided to take a detour around the lake. It added an hour to my journey, but oh was it worth it. Such a beautiful day.

I’ve always been in love with a forest of birch trees. Something about it makes me feel at one with nature, entangled in it’s beauty. When I was walking today with my mother, she told me how her grandmother – my great-grandmother – loved them because it reminded her of Latvia. Connection made.

Heffley Creek, BC, Canada

Posted on 3rd April 2013 in adventure, nature

I have spent a lot of my lifetime in and around Heffley Creek, BC, Canada. My mother grew up there, and I’ve many cousins, aunties, uncles, and a grandmother there. It’s one of those places that is easy to drive through and not pay any attention to since I’ve been through there so many times. It’s also one of those places that has changed so much since I was young.

In the middle of the winter of 2012, in December, I drove through there on my way North, and found myself upon a day of such bright blue and fresh snow that I had to photograph it extensively. No, I never got stuck once.

Looking at the photos, I realize that only the first image is on the edge of Heffley Creek, the rest are on the road up to Sun Peaks, and then the Knouff Lake Rd and Vinsulla Knouff Lake Rd, if that means anything to you…

Summer Solstice in Gastown, Vancouver

Posted on 23rd June 2011 in adventure, events

On June 21st Vancouver hosted the Fete De La Musique in the historic Gastown district of Vancouver, BC. I decided it was in my best interest to go wander around and see what I could find.

The night started off meeting a friend, Indigo, where she was doing a live painting at the grand opening of Hive Gallery on Hastings across from the W2 building. Always a bright soul, and as I departed from I couldn’t help but feel happy; I had my Instax camera with me and had taken a shot a little earlier which, due to the frame of the camera cracking, had majorly over exposed, but Indigo said it was her favorite and I gave it to her.

As I wandered the streets, I was fortunate enough to catch the sun as it hit some of the high rises surrounding the district, giving off a golden flash of light which was brilliant.

This is my Vancouver.
