Green Lake, British Columbia, Canada

I have been driving by Green Lake my entire life on the beautiful Highway 97. I have camped at the Lake many times, and seen it in every season and weather imaginable. However, in recent years it’s just the middle of a long road for me from/to the north/south. I rarely stop there anymore to explore.

I did a shoot with Jilleena recently, and remembered how beautiful that area truly is, so the last time I was by I decided to take a detour around the lake. It added an hour to my journey, but oh was it worth it. Such a beautiful day.

I’ve always been in love with a forest of birch trees. Something about it makes me feel at one with nature, entangled in it’s beauty. When I was walking today with my mother, she told me how her grandmother – my great-grandmother – loved them because it reminded her of Latvia. Connection made.
