Short Shorts Bright Sun | Casey Alexandra

Posted on 9th September 2014 in lifestyle

Meeting Casey Alexandra is like meeting a whirlwind. She’s a bundle of news and insight and hustle. Perhaps it was also the coffee that we got on our way out to Crescent Beach; cobwebs and coffee gets ya good sometimes.

We scheduled this shoot long in advance and had a few locations picked out. We both knew the area which is always good. Once we got to our first location (read: 1000 steps later) we realized this was the only location we needed. But really, these are the kind of places I b-line to, to chill and play my guitar. I’m happy it was low tide.

I Walk the Line | Abby Normal

Posted on 26th May 2014 in fashion

Abby Normal (Tumblr, fb) is an interesting bird. She’s a no holds barred bubblegum-zebra stomping her way into a new sphere of expression, unabashedly. An admirable character trait, to say the least, and she’s a babe. She is also the brainchild of Rent Cheque.

Yes, she is usually NSFW.

So I sent out a message to my circles that listen that I was going to be in Vancouver and Abby sent me a casual message about being a model, if I needed somebody.. “Of course!” I said.

She proposed the train yards, and that’s how it started. As we shot I actually felt like I was – with Abby’s guidance – uncovered a whole new love affair with Vancouver, a side that that can only be found walking the out of way places.

Miss Jilleena is a Cowgirl

Posted on 15th July 2013 in fashion

On the morning of this shoot, I was set to drive the 2hrs it took to get to the location. I had my bags around my shoulder and as I was about to step out of the door, I double checked to make sure I had my car keys with me.

No dice.

It took me two and a half hours to find those car keys. Two hours which included, but not limited to: a new BCAA membership, one BCAA operator breaking into my car, dismantling the couch, refolding a few loads of laundry, numerous phone calls, and one (now wrecked) old clothes hanger.

All that done, I found the keys and jumped on the road. What was no doubt frustrating for Jilleena was that almost the entire drive out there, I had no cell reception! Poor Jilleena thinking I wasn’t coming and then I was…

Alas, I arrived in Lone Butte, BC, of all places, and pulled off the shoot with beautiful weather, and an even more beautiful model. The location was beyond expectations: on a Guest Ranch kind of in the middle of nowhere.

I met Jilleena Askewe on Model Mayhem, and we had been planning a shoot for a while. Every time it might have worked, one of us wasn’t around! But, finally we connected and it… well, what do you think?
