Sufey (fb, instagram, previous posts) was the first yogi that I had the opportunity to photograph a few years ago now, and I’m happy to also call her my friend. She was one of the lead instructors at Yoga University, the Yoga Teacher Training that I was invited to photograph and video tape in Maui, and now she continues her path in the yoga world with her own Sufey Yoga, where she teaches and celebrates the world round. Being a friend of Sufey’s will always make me feel lucky. I’ve had the opportunity to see her grow and learn and change and experience the world, which humbles me when looking at it in a timeline, but she always leaves me feeling motivating whenever I get the chance to sit down and have a chat with her.
If you know her, you’ll know that she’ll want to do yoga wherever she is. Walking down the street: ‘Hey, want to do some yoga?’ Midnight in the middle of winter: ‘Anybody want to do some yoga?’ Without a doubt, she’s a yogi.
This was photographed at Victoria’s Beacon Hill Park.
