August Wiled (FB, Twitter, Instagram) and I have been friends for a while, so it was delightful to get together for another creative project and talk and talk and talk (you may remember her from our shoot in the country from back in 2012). Projects like these for me typically occur over several months of planning, shooting ideas off one another, and lots and lots of excitement. It’s magical when it all comes together. Oh, and that striped suit she’s wearing? She sewed that herself.
For this shoot we had planned to do it at an abandoned grandstand but when we arrived at the location (Burnaby Lake) we found that there was some kind of summer camp going on with all sorts of kids and parents bustling about the boats and kayaks and lounging in sun chairs… The quick thinkers we are, we improvised.
Oh, and this has got to be one of the hottest days I’ve ever photographed on. Big up to August for holding it down like the professional she is.
